Tell Me More

Meet Marcia Allen, writing as Marcia Melody

Marcia Allen

Hello, Lovelies!

I am Marcia Allen. I am a Jamaican-born author, storyteller, and founder of Aubriea, and I published my first book at sixty. At sixty-two, I am not invisible. I am present in my own life, and I feel like I'm just getting started.

I am a woman with a strong corporate background, from hospitality in Negril through decades in advertising, investment banking, and commercial real estate. I published my first two books while still working, before I left corporate America in February 2026.

I was born and raised in Jamaica, where storytelling is stitched into everyday life. It lives in Sunday dinners and good music and the long, spirited conversations that stretch late into the night. That is where my love affair with words began. I have always believed stories bring us together, letting us recognize pieces of ourselves in the lives of others.

But the chapter where I became a published author did not open until I turned sixty.

Life has given me more than a few unexpected chapters. I have known deep love and deep loss. I have had to figure out who I am when the life I knew changed almost overnight. And somewhere in all of that, I learned that the dreams we set aside do not always disappear. Sometimes they are just waiting for us to give them another chance.

My first book, Heart is Home, a self-love journal, grew out of my own journey back to myself. Writing it opened a door to a part of me that had been waiting patiently to be heard.

Then came Webs, Love & Fireworks, my debut romance novel and the first book in a trilogy. I write my novels as Marcia Melody. And yes, I believe in love and desire and complicated relationships and second chances and the delicious unpredictability of the human heart. I do not believe romance has an expiration date.

My forthcoming book, Go Where You Glow: Poetry and Reflections on Life, Love, Loss, and Becoming, gathers another side of my writing. It is personal and reflective, sometimes playful, rooted in the conversations we have with ourselves about life, faith, love, and becoming. It arrives before Christmas, and I cannot wait to place it in your hands.

I also write The Internal Verandah, my publication on Substack, where I share reflections on life and the lessons it keeps teaching me. Think of it as pulling up a chair for a good conversation. There may be laughter, a little wisdom, an occasional confession, and perhaps a glass of wine.

Beyond the books, I am the founder of Aubriea, a lifestyle brand built around individuality, self-expression, and the belief that we should never have to shrink ourselves to fit someone else's expectations.

To me, Aubriea and my writing are two expressions of the same woman. One speaks through the things we wear and surround ourselves with. The other speaks through the stories we read, the words we return to, and the feelings that stay with us long after the last page.

I am a mother, a woman of faith, an avid reader, a lover of good wine and meaningful conversation and beautiful places and the kind of laughter that makes you forget what you were worried about.

If there is one thing I hope you take from my story, it is this: you do not have to be finished becoming who you are just because you have reached a certain age. There are still stories to tell, places to discover, people to love, and dreams worth pursuing.

So whether you found your way here through a book, a reflection, or a piece from Aubriea, I am delighted you are here.

Stay a while. There is plenty more story to tell.

xo, Marcia
