AUBRIEA | About the Founder
I am a Jamaican country gyal at heart, and I create from wherever life takes me.
Whether I am watching the morning mist lift over the hills in rural Jamaica, sitting on a balcony in London, finding stillness by the waters of Negril, or skylarking by the water at my home in Florida, my perspective is always grounded in where I come from.
I am Marcia M. Allen, founder of AUBRIEA, author, and writer. I write fiction as Marcia Melody, including my debut contemporary romance novel, Webs, Love & Fireworks. I am also the author of Heart is Home: A Transformative 7-Day Journey to Self-Love & Other Musings.
Before I became a full-time entrepreneur, I spent more than three decades building a career that began in Jamaica and continued in corporate America. But creativity, writing, reflection, and the desire to create my own were always there.
AUBRIEA is part of that story.
What began as Nasté Apparel, a response to the labels placed on women, eventually evolved alongside me into something much more personal: AUBRIEA, a lifestyle brand rooted in individuality, self-expression, and the belief that who you are is already worth celebrating.
I didn't create AUBRIEA because I believe women need another brand telling them who to become. I created it because I believe we already know who we are, but sometimes we simply need a reminder or a little nudge.
That belief finds its way into everything I create, whether it is a statement you wear, a journal you write in, a candle you light at the end of the day, a novel you disappear into for a few hours, or a reflection that makes you think about your own life a little differently.
On The Internal Verandah, my platform on Substack, I write about real life, from the personal to the professional. Love, family, joy, reinvention, entrepreneurship, getting older, beginning again, travel, and those ordinary moments that sometimes turn out to mean much more than we realized.
And perhaps that is the thread that runs through all of my work.
I am interested in the stories we tell ourselves, the ones others try to tell about us, and what is possible when we decide for ourselves who we are.
Be Uniquely You.
There is no one else you need to be.
With love,
Marcia M. Allen
