Do you have a Sunday Reset routine? I do! As a young girl growing up in Jamaica, Sundays were sacred for another reason—they meant getting dressed in your Sunday best and heading off to Sunday school and church. I’ll be honest, as a child, I didn’t quite understand the gravity of it. It felt like routine, an obligation. But in hindsight, I realize that those Sundays were setting a foundation I would later appreciate deeply.
Back then, I didn’t realize the importance of stepping away from the noise and demands of daily life. Even as I grew older and spent my Sundays frolicking on the beaches, I didn’t yet see the sacredness of those moments. Sundays felt like leisure, but not a true time for renewal.
My Sunday Rs and Why They Matter
Nowadays, Sundays are more than just a break in the week—they are my sacred time to reset, realign, and return home to myself. It’s my day to come back to my powerful center, where peace meets purpose and balance meets breath. In a world where we’re constantly rushing, I’ve found that Sundays are for slowing down, taking stock of where we are, and making space to breathe. That’s why I honor what I call the Sunday Rs: Rest, Rejuvenation, Relief, Renewal, and Revival.
But the beauty of the Sunday Rs isn’t only in what they offer me—it’s how they can serve you, too.
Rest: We often overlook the power of rest, thinking we need to be busy all the time to stay productive. But Sundays are a reminder that rest is just as important. Whether it’s lying in bed for an extra hour, or cozying up with a good book and sereneness with Aubriea’s Luminous Whispers candles, these small moments of rest reset our minds and bodies for the week ahead.
Breaks aren't a nice-to-have luxury, they're a biological necessity. Your brain works better if it's given time to decompress. Honoring your breaks lowers your stress in the short term and can fuel your productivity in the long term. — Dr. Aditi Nerurkar |
Rejuvenation: For me, spending time in nature is rejuvenation but on Sundays, it feels like I'm coming home. It's comfort. Whether it’s a gentle breeze or the sun on your face, these moments are simple reminder of the beauty around us. Perhaps it's a walk in nature or relaxing at home or on the beach - these beautiful moments of being still and being one with yourself have the power to impact your entire week.
Relief: Unplugging from the noise of the world is essential for a true reset. Taking a break from screens—whether it's your phone, computer, or TV—allows you to reconnect with yourself and the present moment. Use this time to journal, reflect, or simply sit in stillness. I often reach for one of my Aubriea’s Journals, which help me clear my mind and set fresh intentions, creating space for clarity and peace.
Renewal: On Sundays, I take time to go deeper with my spiritual practice, creating space to let go of anything weighing me down. It’s the time when I extend my gratitude practice and reflect with clear intention, allowing myself to lighten my load and find peace.
Wearing something cozy, like Aubriea's Je t'aime I Love You 365-7-24 sweatshirt, and lighting one of our Luminous Whispers scented candles, helps me feel grounded, empowered, and present in the moment. The comforting warmth of the candle and the softness of my sweatshirt remind me that self-love and renewal are not just occasional indulgences—they're daily practices. These small rituals offer me the space to breathe deeply, reset, and reconnect with myself.
Revival: Sundays revive my spirit and help me rediscover my balance. It’s not about being perfect; it’s about embracing peace in the pause. For me, revival often happens either in stillness or loud praise—through quiet reflection, meditation, or even attending a church service. Whether you find revival in a Sunday prayer, spending time at church, or simply sitting in gratitude, the act of reconnecting with something greater is powerful.
Even a few hours dedicated to resetting your mind and spirit—whether in prayer, spiritual reflection, or attending a service—can set you up for a calmer, more productive week. Revival doesn’t need to be complicated—it’s about letting go, returning to yourself, and tapping into the peace that comes from reconnecting with your faith or spiritual practices.
Why a Sunday Reset is for You, TooI’ve discovered is that Sundays are a gift—a time to step away from the busyness and create moments of intentional pause. And it’s not just for me. My version of a Sunday Reset can work for you, too.
Imagine taking just a couple of hours to disconnect, reflect, and reset. How would that change your week? Maybe you start with something small: a cup of tea, a walk in nature, or lighting a candle to create a calming environment. Perhaps you take a few minutes to journal or simply to breathe.
When we reset our mindset on Sunday, we set the tone for the entire week ahead. We’re more patient, more present, and more at peace. These small steps create a ripple effect that carries into Monday and beyond.
Your Own Sunday RsNow that you know what the Sunday Rs look like for me, I encourage you to think about what they could look like for you. Rest, rejuvenation, relief, renewal, and revival—how can you incorporate these into your life?
Whether it’s through journaling, spending time outdoors, or just unplugging for a few hours, I hope you find a Sunday reset that works for you.
Let's celebrate resting, renewing, and resetting—because you deserve it.
I hope that as you reflect on your own Sundays, you find time to honor your version of the Sunday Rs. Whether it’s rest, renewal, or reflection, you deserve to take that moment to come home to yourself.🌿✨
Let's start a conversation!
How do you reset and renew on Sundays? I'd love to hear what helps you find peace and balance as you prepare for the week ahead!
