When was the last time you made a big jump into the abyss?
An Ode to Change
One year ago, I closed a chapter—quietly, purposefully, with trembling hands and a steady heart.
I woke up, exactly one year ago, on this Sunday morning—for what was the first Sunday of my new beginning.
So today, in honor of the first anniversary of one of the biggest changes in my journey, I’m celebrating by sharing a few grounding practices that have never failed me—practices that helped me welcome, navigate, and eventually accept change, especially in this season.
You see, change doesn’t always come with fireworks. Sometimes, it shows up in cardboard boxes, deep exhales, and the ache that comes with loss—especially the loss of loved ones or relationships. The kind of ache you can’t quite name, or fully let go of, but one that stays with you as you move forward.
But when change arrives—really arrives—I’ve learned to greet it like an old friend.
Even when it’s uncomfortable, it always brings lessons.
This past year has brought many.
It hasn’t been the easiest year, but it has been a year full of growth, stretching, grace, fun, and learning to love on myself a little more.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned throughout this period, it’s the lesson of letting go and embracing life’s ebbs and flows—both for me personally and for my brand, AUBRIEA.
But, perhaps most importantly, I’ve learned that you don’t have to have it all figured out before you take the first step.
Sometimes, the clarity comes after the leap.
Phase | Reflection |
FAITH |
Faith has always been my superpower. |
RELEASE |
Letting go of the picture of the life I once painted. |
ACCEPTANCE |
The newness won’t feel like home overnight. |
First comes FAITH.
Faith has always been my superpower.
It’s what I’ve leaned on through every chapter of reinvention.
I’ve had to start over more than once—but this last time, when it felt like the ground beneath me shifted and shook me to the core, faith was like my high-fiving BFF in the background, whispering: you’ve got this one too.
When I made the decision to move to Florida, it wasn’t without fear. But deep down, I knew this change was necessary.
It may not make sense at first, but trust that it will.
You are being guided.
Then comes RELEASE.
Letting go of the picture I once painted of what my life should be. Releasing the grip I had on the “what ifs,” “should have beens,” and “I still need to…”
This one was heavy.
But I made peace with the unknown. I trusted that the version of me who said yes to change—she knew what she was doing.
Yes—there are always two versions.
Listen to the one who says: Yes, you can do it.
Then comes ACCEPTANCE.
The newness won’t feel like home right away.
Some days will stretch you. Others will call you to rest.
You might question your strength, even while embracing it.
But slowly, in the rhythm of sunrise awakenings, quiet victories, and unexpected joy… it will begin to feel like yours.
And then one morning, like today, you’ll look back and realize:
You made it.
You are not only in a new place—
You have become a whole new version of yourself.
Change did that.
Faith did that.
You did that.
So, if you’re in the middle of a transition—or standing at the edge of one—
Take a deep breath.
Everything is okay.
Everything is more than okay.
You are exactly where you’re meant to be.
And self-love?
Sometimes, it looks like making bold moves.
The kind that doesn’t feel like love at first…
But over time, you realize—it was.
Because choosing yourself, trusting your next step, and honoring your growth?
That’s love.
Heart is Home.
Your heart is home.

Marcia

Marcia, your reflection truly spoke to my soul. Thank you for sharing your journey so openly. The line “You’re not just in a new place—You’ve become a new version of yourself” hit me right in the heart. What a beautiful reminder that growth and faith walk hand in hand. 💛
